Postcard #2: Siena & A Little Chianti Chaos

We arrived in Siena on Friday, May 16th, and even though we left just two days later, I’m convinced Tuscany has officially claimed a piece of my heart (and possibly… my hand? More on that in a sec.)

Our first stop was the Piazza del Campo, where we grabbed a late lunch at Bar Il Palio. We shared a four cheese pizza and a caprese salad, and I tried a purple spritz, which honestly might’ve changed my life. It tasted like violet, sunshine, and vacation.

After lunch, we wandered the city, soaking up every soft golden corner and quiet little alley. Siena feels like it’s been frozen in time but in the most magical way.

Saturday was our wine day, and it did not disappoint. We toured two vineyards: first, Lornano Chianti Classico, and then Il Colobaio Agriturismo near San Gimignano, which is a hilltop town straight out of a painting. The wine, the views, and the weather were all perfect.

And then… at the second vineyard, the owner asked me to come meet his son (??), gave me his business card (!!), and told me to come back soon (!!!). So, um, ciao to my new Italian husband I guess? Ti amo Francesco!

Sunday morning, we said goodbye to Siena and headed to Florence, where the next chapter of this summer begins. But I’m pretty sure I’ll be thinking about those Tuscan hills (and that purple spritz) for a while.

With love,
